Reconstructive Bioengineering  

The Head of the Master's programme "Reconstructive Bioengineering": Professor Ekaterina Igorevna Shishatskaya, Ph.D., D.Sc., Co-supervisor of the project “Biotechnology of New Materials” of the SibFU Institute of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology, she has won the competition for the grant of the Russian Federation Government within the framework of the governmental program to support research in Russian higher education institutions supervised by the world leading scientists.

Aim of the programme:   

to prepare highly-qualified world-class professionals, who will be able identify and solve current problems using cutting edge knowledge and latest technological advances in the field of molecular and cellular biology, as well as in the areas of environmental and medical biotechnology, tissue and organs bioengineering. The research areas also include medical implantology, medical materials and products.

Advantages for the graduates:
The programme is aimed to develop scientific and pedagogical skills among the graduates.
The professional activities include the studying of wildlife and its laws, the usage of biological systems in industrial and medical purposes and nature conservation.

Future employment:
Public and private research centres, medical and industrial companies, institutions of higher and secondary education.

The objects of studying are the following:
biological systems of different organization types; their life and evolution; biological, bioengineering and biomedical technologies; quality assessment of medical materials and products; the development of therapeutic and diagnostic tools for human health.

Duration: 2 years (120 ECTS)

Language of instruction: Russian

Admission requirements:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Physics, Biophysics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Sciences or equivalent (a copy of your diplomas from previous university studies and transcripts of completed courses and grades)
  • Good command of Russian (certificate or other official document), apply for The Centre for International Education and Certified Testing for a certificate if you do not have it, Russian language preparatory course is available
  • Motivation letter and letters of recommendation may also be required
  • University entry tests
