International Semester Program «Biological Engineering» - english-taught module of Master’s program «Biophysics» at Siberian Federal University  

Siberian Federal University (SibFU) offers International Semester Program -
English-taught module «Biological Engineering» of Master’s program «Biophysics» for students wishing to specialise in contemporary biological and biophysical problems.
The primary objective of the program is to apply the contemporary concepts and methodology of the physical sciences to the solution of biological problems. English-taught module «Biological Engineering» will be implemented based on laboratory “Bioluminescent Biotechnology”, established under supervision of Nobel prizewinner, professor Osamu Shimomura.
This semester-long program is delivered in English and is a part of a 2-year Master degree program “Biophysics”. It is suitable for students looking for a study-abroad opportunity, besides academic knowledge and skills it offers immersion into local life and culture through close integration with in-country students, provision of on-campus accommodation, a free course of Russian as a foreign language and complimentary cultural events.
This program is integrated in educational process, developed according the European requirements and can be recognized as a semester abroad.

Duration: 1 semester 18 weeks

Beginning of studies: February 03, 2015

Language: English

Participants: undergraduate international and Russian students - with a BSc degree in biology, chemistry, physics or environmental sciences, with good command of English

Credits: 30 ECTS per semester

Training methods: lectures, case studies and group discussions

Teaching staff: SibFU Professors and visiting lecturer (University of Florida, North Dakota, Pittsburgh, Carnegie Meloni, Utah (USA), Wroclaw (Poland)).

Opportunities: developed according to the European requirements; recognized by partner universities, international environment; intercultural experience, students' active participation and involvement

Application deadline: October 25, 2014

Program cost: 1,985 Euro. The program cost includes a tuition fee, a city tour, a tour of the National park “Stolby” in the city outskirts and an optional survival course of Russian as a foreign language. All arriving students are picked up at the airport or railway station by a University transport. The cost does not include accommodation and living expenses.

On-campus accommodation:
Cost 2015: en-suite self-catering university hall accommodation 45 euro per month (single-occupancy); 30 euro per month (double-occupancy).
